Sr. Master David Moore, 7th Dan Black Belt
Sr Master Moore is the head instructor for the Manhattan branch academy. Sr. Master Moore started his martial arts training with Sun Yi’s Academy in 1990. He was the undefeated state champion gold medalist winner from 1996 to 2004 and 2002 AKTA grand champion, 2010 TTA National Tae Kwon Do grand champion Sr. Master Moore teaches the Tae Kwon Do classes for the K-State campus, as well as weekly classes at the Manhattan academy, in 2012 Master Moore, was one of the personal protection, self-defense instructors for the DOD at Fort Riley Army base Fort Riley, Ks. Sr. Master Moore is a certified PPS (personal protection systems) instructor. Sr. Master Moore continues his training under Grand Master Yi.
Mr. Michael Halliwell
Mr. Michael Halliwell, Junior Master 4th Dan Black Belt at Sun Yi’s Academy Manhattan.
Ms. Faith C. Thompson
Ms. Faith Catherine Thompson, Junior Master 4th Dan Black Belt.
Faith currently attends the interior design program at Kansas State University (Class of 2024). She started her Taekwondo training in 2008 when she was a 1st grader. She has been training persistently since then and reached the 4th-degree black belt, Junior Master rank. She is also an internationally certified Taekwondo instructor.
Faith’s Taekwondo journey helped her be more confident about herself in school work and her ability to defend herself. Faith also gives Taekwondo training credit for how she developed her leadership skills, as well. She loves working with young students as she started from where they are. She enjoys training in Taekwondo and plans to teach Taekwondo through her college years.
Dr. Junehee Kwon
Ms. Junehee Kwon, 4th Dan Black belt.
Junehee is a professor in the Department of Hospitality Management at Kansas State University. She started her Taekwondo training in 2008, shortly after her children started Taekwondo classes at Sun Yi’s Academy. She currently holds the 4th-degree black belt, Junior Master rank and is an internationally certified Taekwondo instructor.
Working out with her children has been fun and rewarding for over a decade now. All of her children achieved a black belt (Kyle 3rd, Faith 4th, and Grace 2nd degree), and the family-friendly environment at Sun Yi’s has motivated her to continue training in Taekwondo. Now, she is more physically fit and stronger than before, and she feels confident in defending herself. She loves teaching Taekwondo techniques to children and adults and plans to continue training even after her children leave home.
